Competition Leads to Perfection or Isolation?

Competition Leads to Perfection or Isolation?

Before knowing whether Competition leads to perfection or isolation, we need to understand, what Competition basically means. It is the act of seeking or endeavoring to gain, what another is endeavoring to gain at the same time. It is the common strife for the same objects, strife for superiority or strife for a prize. Where two or more persons are engaged in the same business and each seeking patronage. These are called Competitions.

Competition may prove to be a way for self-improvement. For example, consider two watchmakers who are competing for business. They will hopefully improve their efforts and the watchmaker who is more responsive to his work will flourish. But this competition helped both of them.

Competition leads those people to perfection, who keep working hard. If they learn from their mistakes and if they try not to repeat the same mistakes again, even after losing.

Some people get disheartened after getting nothing even after a lot of hard work. Competition or challenges like “Winner Takes All” are just for seeking benefits. It is sometimes, won by damaging or eliminating opponents. Such types of competitions promote fear.

Conclusion

We cannot stop the competitions as it is a way to distinguish the talented people from others and of course, to seek the hidden talent of a person. What we can do is that we can praise the people who are not able to win. So that they can gain confidence to try again and again until they succeed.

A winner can only enjoy the taste of the victory when he knows that he has won against the competitors of his own class.
